Alecio de Andrade. Louvre and its visitors.

My choice for today is a mix of two sides of art that I am highly attracted to. Photography and painting. The way Brazilian photographer Alecio de Andrade captures the essence of the moment becomes powerful given the chosen location: a museum.
People- their movements and reactions, sitting, walking, starring- and the angles of the photos arouse an emotion in me when looking at the walls. Walls that also breath their own stories- that passed and yet are there for us to  cut slices of them, take them home inside our mind, heart and memories.
We actually exist as a reaction in others. Art is a way of finding a corridor into somebody's private universe.

DailyArt -Daily Dose of Art

I want to share with you one of the methods I use for developing my knowledge of paintings and painters.
DailyArt - Daily Dose of Art App from Google Play is such an amazing way for indulging myself into different bites of fine art that were very carefully chosen. The application publishes one fine art item per day-it includes a very good resolution painting, together with its name, year of creation and painter. It is one of the 12 best educational apps of 2012 according to The Next Web.
But what makes this application so great is the description of the painting, the short and yet meaningful details of what it stands behind its conception.  I absolutely appreciate that the descriptions are not copied from wikipedia, but written by Zuzanna Stanska and her team. Zuzanna is the founder of DailyArt; she is truly an art admirer and enthusiast. I started following her on Instagram as well and discovered her usual life rotating around museums, theaters, wines, nature, friends.
We are incredibly lucky to live in a miracle period and benefit of the technology's help in reaching not only inspiring people, but also accessing an enormous online library full of relevant information. Information and data that few decades ago implied scholars traveling to different countries, spending days reading books available only in those specific libraries, taking notes since there was no xerox, and, prior to these, learning foreign languages so they could understand the materials,

The Penitent Magdalene by Tintoretto

I've been so obsessed with this incredible painting since I came across it. It is named The Penitent Magdalene, painted by Domenico Tintoretto around 1598.
I searched the web for explanations about it as it seems so controversial to me, though I couldn't find any detail behind its conception.
I wonder why.
This painting emanates such incredible erotic sensations, generated by the entire choice of colors -all of them are tones of gold and browns, matching the silky and soft skin of the saint and exacerbating the carnal impression. The shadows are rarely seen in religious paintings and here they create an effect of sensuality, together with the feminine golden hair curls and full lips. The look of Magdalene is mysterious, not revealing the penitence or other heavenly call, but rather intriguing. The crucified Christ is placed in an obscure manner and after looking at Magdalene's face, the viewer's look is captured by the wrapping cloth, with its woven texture that I associate with a snake skin, giving a deceiving illusion.
I am captivated by this painting. I wonder why Tintoretto chose such a non-religious approach - it seems very offensive for the period he lived in.

Le Rêve

Just believing that feminine outer beauty should definitely be built on a captivating personality.

I truly value and admire grace, seductive spirit, positive attitude, optimism, humor, think-before-speaking behavior (obviously, not successfully on a daily basis :) ) and –essentially!- intelligence polished by continuous learning and education.

All of these mixed up with a permanent research on art, as I am SO passionate about literature and- then- also music, painting, photography, wines, tea, travelling - all things of beauty.

This is my world.
